New Delhi |The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) has approved a six-month extension of the deputation tenure of Shri Manish Sharma, a senior Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) officer, who is currently serving as Chief General Manager (Signal & Telecommunication) at IRCON International Ltd.
The decision was announced through an official order issued from Rail Bhavan under directive No. 2023/E(O)II/9/27. The extension has been approved by the Competent Authority and reviewed by the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
Extension Details
Manish Sharma, a 2000-batch IRSSE officer born on May 4, 1977, previously served as Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM-II) at Samastipur under the East Central Railway (ECR) before joining IRCON International Ltd. on deputation.
Under the new order, his deputation has been extended beyond August 4, 2026, until February 3, 2027, marking the fourth year of his assignment at the state-owned engineering and construction company.
The Railway Ministry stated that the extension will remain valid until the earliest of the following:
- February 3, 2027
- IRCON receives exemption from the standard immediate absorption rule
- Further orders are issued by the competent authority
The extension will continue under the existing terms and conditions of his deputation.
Strict Repatriation Rules
The Railway Board has also directed IRCON International Ltd. to ensure strict compliance with deputation rules. According to the order, if Shri Manish Sharma does not return to his parent Railway cadre within one month after the completion of the extended deputation, it will be treated as deemed resignation from Railway service, in accordance with applicable government regulations.
Additionally, when the officer is repatriated, IRCON must submit a comprehensive vigilance clearance report covering the entire deputation period along with the official relieving order.

The notification, signed by Smt. Roshan Kumari Meena, Deputy Secretary (Deputation), Railway Board, has been circulated to the General Managers of East Central Railway (Hajipur) and Eastern Railway (Kolkata), as well as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of IRCON International Ltd.
