Public Relations Society Delhi Celebrates National PR Day, Honors Veteran Media and Communication Professionals


New Delhi, India: Public Relations Society Delhi (PRSD) celebrated National PR Day with a grand event at the Press Club of India, recognizing several distinguished veterans for their exceptional contributions to public relations, corporate communications, journalism, and media outreach.

The ceremony brought together senior communication professionals, media veterans, branding experts, and industry leaders from across the National Capital Region (NCR), highlighting the growing importance of strategic communication and ethical public relations in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape.

Among those honored during the event were Ira Joshi, former Director General (News) of All India Radio and Doordarshan; Usha Krishnan, former General Manager (Public Relations) at NHPC Limited; Nisha Sharma, former Deputy General Manager (PR) at Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE); Om Prakash of Power Finance Corporation; T. S. Rajpoot from NTPC Limited; and Devender Singh.

The awards and recognitions were presented by PRSD’s leadership team, led by Chairman G. S. Bawa. Other dignitaries involved in the felicitation ceremony included former chairmen S. S. Rao and Sarvesh Tiwari, Vice Chairperson Rama Vijay, Secretary Jyoti Kumar, Joint Secretary Akshat Chopra, and Treasurer Vipin Kharbanda.

The event also witnessed the presence of several senior professionals and former communication heads from major government organizations and public sector enterprises. Distinguished attendees included Anil Saxena of Press Information Bureau, K. M. Prashant, K. N. Dhawan, J. P. Daoundiyal of THDC India Limited, along with P. K. Banerjee and A. K. Tiwari.

Speaking during the occasion, PRSD officials emphasized the crucial role played by communication professionals in shaping public perception, strengthening institutional credibility, and promoting transparent information dissemination across industries and government sectors.

PRSD stated that the annual recognition program has become an important tradition aimed at honoring experienced professionals whose work has significantly contributed to the evolution of India’s public relations and media ecosystem. The initiative also seeks to inspire young communication practitioners and encourage professional excellence in the field of strategic communications.

National PR Day is observed to recognize the growing impact of public relations in governance, corporate reputation management, crisis communication, and public engagement. The celebration in New Delhi served as both a tribute to veteran communicators and a platform for networking and knowledge-sharing among professionals from the media and communications industry.
