New Delhi: In a significant development at the Union Government, the President of India has accepted the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan from the Union Council of Ministers with immediate effect, acting on the advice of the Prime Minister under Article 75(2) of the Constitution of India.
According to an official announcement, the resignation was approved by the President following the recommendation of the Prime Minister, bringing Dharmendra Pradhan’s tenure as Union Education Minister to an end.
To ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the Ministry of Education, the President, on the advice of the Prime Minister, has directed that Cabinet Minister Pralhad Joshi will hold the additional charge of the Ministry of Education, alongside his existing ministerial responsibilities.
The move ensures that the ministry continues to function without any administrative disruption while the government decides on a permanent arrangement for the portfolio.
The Ministry of Education plays a crucial role in formulating and implementing policies related to school education, higher education, technical education, research, digital learning, and several flagship national education initiatives. With the additional responsibility, Pralhad Joshi will oversee these functions until further orders are issued by the government.
The notification issued by the government states that the decision has come into force with immediate effect, and all official responsibilities related to the ministry will now be handled by Pralhad Joshi in addition to his current portfolio.
The latest cabinet reshuffle comes at a time when the education sector remains under close public attention, and the government’s decision is expected to ensure continuity in governance, policy implementation, and the smooth functioning of the ministry.
Further announcements regarding any permanent appointment to the Education Ministry are expected to be made by the government at an appropriate time.
