Bengaluru: Actor Prakash Raj has claimed that his name was removed from the voter list despite being born and brought up in Bengaluru. However, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has rejected the allegation, saying his name was marked as “shifted” following a door-to-door verification by the Booth Level Officer (BLO).
The clarification came after a video posted by Prakash Raj circulated on social media on Tuesday, in which the actor questioned why his name had been removed from the electoral roll.
Civic Body Explains Why Name Was Marked “Shifted”
According to the Bengaluru civic authorities, when the electoral roll was frozen for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process on June 16, 2026, Prakash Raj’s name was listed in Part No. 1 of the Shantinagar Assembly constituency, at serial number 970.
The BLO subsequently conducted a door-to-door verification at the address registered in the electoral roll.
During the verification, the officer reportedly found that Prakash Raj was no longer living at the registered address. The owner of the apartment was also contacted by phone and allegedly informed the officer that the actor had not been residing at the property for around four years and that another tenant was currently living there.
The BLO also reportedly spoke with neighbours and the property manager of the apartment complex before preparing a verification report.
Based on the information collected during the verification process, Prakash Raj’s name was marked as “shifted.”
Actor Reportedly Confirmed He Had Moved
The GBA said the property manager reconfirmed the information by telephone at around 5:30 PM on August 11.
According to the civic body’s statement, a senior official also spoke with Prakash Raj by phone on Tuesday. During the conversation, the actor reportedly confirmed that he was no longer residing at the address mentioned in the electoral roll.
However, Prakash Raj allegedly told the official that he was currently living at another address within the Shantinagar Assembly constituency.
Form 6 Option Explained
The official reportedly informed the actor that he could submit Form 6 through the BLO at his current address, after which the application would be processed in accordance with Election Commission guidelines.
The civic body maintained that the verification and subsequent action were carried out in accordance with the procedures and guidelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India.
GBA Rejects Allegations
In its statement, the Greater Bengaluru Authority said that, based on the facts available to it, Prakash Raj’s allegations were “far from the truth.”
The statement was issued for the information of the public and media by Jagadish G., Additional District Election Officer (Central) and Commissioner, Bengaluru Central City Corporation.
The issue now highlights the importance of voters keeping their electoral-roll details and current residential addresses updated, particularly during revision exercises.
