Jharsuguda : NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has successfully trained 210 youth under its NLC Talabira Thermal Power Project (NTTPP) Skill Development Programme in Odisha, reaffirming its commitment to empowering project-affected families through vocational training, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship.
The initiative is part of the company’s broader efforts to create sustainable livelihoods, improve employability, and contribute to the Government of India’s flagship missions, including Skill India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Vocational Training Across Key Trades
Under the programme, 210 young participants received industry-oriented vocational training designed to equip them with practical skills for employment and self-employment.
The training included:
- 30 youth who successfully completed the Industrial Electrician course, preparing them for careers in the electrical and industrial sectors.
- 180 participants who underwent training in the Self-Employed Tailor trade, enabling them to establish their own tailoring businesses or secure employment in the garment industry.
The programme aims to enhance the economic independence of beneficiaries by providing market-relevant skills that can generate long-term income opportunities.
Certificates and Sewing Machines Distributed
As part of the latest phase of the initiative, 60 trainees successfully completed the Self-Employed Tailor course.
To support their transition into self-employment, the trainees were presented with:
- Training completion certificates
- Sewing machines to help them establish independent tailoring businesses
The certificate and equipment distribution ceremony was attended by the Collector & District Magistrate of Jharsuguda and Mr. Santosh C. S., Executive Director & Project Head, NTTPP, who congratulated the trainees and encouraged them to utilize their newly acquired skills to build sustainable careers.
Next Batch Begins Training
Continuing its commitment to community development, NLC India simultaneously inducted another 60 youth into the next batch of the Self-Employed Tailor training programme.
With this new batch, the company is moving closer to its goal of training 300 youth under the tailoring initiative, further expanding livelihood opportunities for families residing in the project area.
