Candidates demanding the release of the second list for 1,600 constable posts continue their protest, saying they will not leave until they receive a written order.
Kawardha, Chhattisgarh: The protest by candidates demanding the release of the police constable recruitment duty list continued late into the night in Kawardha. Candidates from different parts of Chhattisgarh had gathered in the district headquarters seeking clarity on the recruitment process and the release of the second list for around 1,600 candidates.
The situation escalated after candidates, who were heading towards the district collectorate to submit a memorandum to the administration, were stopped by police on the way. Following this, the candidates sat down in protest on the road leading to the collectorate.
Candidates Remain on the Road Despite Lack of Food and Water
With no concrete assurance from the administration throughout the day, the candidates’ frustration continued to grow.
A large number of aspirants remained on the road until late at night. Several candidates were reportedly seen without adequate food and water. As the night progressed and fatigue set in, some candidates spread blankets and sheets on the road and spent the night there.
Several candidates also reportedly arrived with their children, adding to the difficulties faced during the prolonged protest.
Candidates Warn of Division-Wise Agitation
The protesting candidates said they had travelled to Kawardha from different districts of the state after waiting for a long time for the second list and further recruitment proceedings.
They said they were no longer prepared to withdraw from the protest without a clear decision from the authorities.

Another candidate, Ram Sahu, said the aspirants had been at the protest site since morning and were facing difficulties with basic arrangements.
“We are candidates for the police constable recruitment. We arrived around 10 AM and there is no proper arrangement for food or drinking water. We are demanding that the second list of 1,600 candidates be released. If the list is not released soon, we will launch protests in every division.” — Ram Sahu, Candidate
Candidates Demand Meeting With Home Minister
The protesters have also demanded a meeting with the Chhattisgarh Home Minister, seeking a clear decision on the recruitment process.
The candidates described their agitation as a “decisive battle”, saying they want to know whether the administration will address their demands or whether they will have to intensify their protest.
They have warned that they will continue sitting on the road until they receive a concrete assurance and a written order concerning the recruitment.

Focus Now on Administration’s Next Move
The protest has drawn attention to the long-pending demand for the release of the second recruitment list for 1,600 constable candidates.

The candidates have also warned of expanding the agitation across different divisions of Chhattisgarh if their demands are not addressed soon.
