Raipur: Shoaib Dhebar has come under the scanner of Raipur Police in connection with an alleged extortion case involving Congress leader Anand Kukreja. Police are searching for Dhebar after efforts to locate and arrest him reportedly failed. The police have now announced a cash reward of ₹5,000 for information that leads to his arrest or provides credible information about his whereabouts.
The case was registered at Telibandha Police Station. The matter has drawn attention because of an alleged demand for ₹25 crore from Kukreja. The investigation has also reportedly involved threats sent through WhatsApp from foreign numbers.
Who Is Shoaib Dhebar?
Shoaib Dhebar is associated with Raipur’s well-known Dhebar family. He is reportedly the son of Anwar Dhebar and the nephew of former Raipur Mayor Aijaz Dhebar.
Dhebar’s name has previously surfaced in connection with a number of disputes and police cases in Raipur. In 2024, reports emerged about his arrest in connection with an alleged assault outside a club. In 2025, action was also reportedly taken against him in connection with allegations of entering the meeting area of Raipur Central Jail without permission and allegedly obstructing government officials in the discharge of their duties.
The allegations in such cases remain subject to the applicable legal process and should not be treated as convictions unless established by a court.
What Is the Alleged ₹25 Crore Extortion Case?
Shoaib Dhebar’s name has now emerged in connection with an alleged extortion case involving Congress leader Anand Kukreja.
According to the police investigation, Kukreja was allegedly threatened in the name of a gang and asked to pay a substantial amount of money. As the investigation progressed, police reportedly came across information pointing to Dhebar’s alleged involvement.
The case also reportedly involves threats communicated through WhatsApp using foreign telephone numbers.
Police Had Questioned Dhebar
During the investigation, police reportedly took Shoaib Dhebar into custody and questioned him. Subsequently, reports emerged that permission had been obtained from the court for his further arrest.
Following the court’s permission, Raipur Police intensified efforts to trace him and conducted searches at his suspected locations. Despite these efforts, he has not yet been taken into police custody, according to the information released by the police.
₹5,000 Reward Announced for Information
With Dhebar still being sought, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Raipur Commissionerate, issued a reward announcement.
Police said an offence has been registered against Shoaib Dhebar at Telibandha Police Station under Sections 308(4), 351(3), 351(4) and 3(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to the police, efforts to arrest him have so far not resulted in his whereabouts being established. The police have therefore announced a ₹5,000 cash reward for anyone who helps secure his arrest or provides credible information about his whereabouts.

Shoaib Dhebar is known for his association with Raipur’s prominent Dhebar family. His name is now at the centre of an alleged extortion investigation registered at Telibandha Police Station.
