Bhilai Steel Plant Extends Rural Healthcare Reach, 90 Villagers Benefit from Free Medical Camps in Durg

Bhilai, Chhattisgarh | In a significant step toward strengthening rural healthcare access, the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) – Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) organized two free medical check-up and health consultation camps in Godhi and Khopli villages of Durg district under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The camps were conducted in collaboration with the District Hospital, Durg, providing free medical examinations, expert consultations, and essential medicines to villagers.

The initiative reflects Bhilai Steel Plant’s continued commitment to improving primary healthcare services in rural communities and ensuring that people living in remote areas have access to quality medical care.

First Medical Camp Held at Godhi Village

The first medical outreach camp was organized on July 20, 2026, in Godhi village of Dhamdha Block.

The medical team from District Hospital, Durg, included:

  • Dr. Gayatri Shyam – Medical Officer
  • Janhavi – Pharmacist
  • Trupti Kumari – Nursing Staff
  • Rakesh Kumar – Registration Support
  • Guleshwari Sahu – Community Health Officer (CHO)

During the camp, 40 villagers benefited from the healthcare services, including 12 men and 28 women. All beneficiaries underwent health screening, received professional medical consultation, and were provided essential medicines free of cost.

Second Camp Conducted at Khopli Village

The second free medical camp was organized on July 21, 2026, in Khopli village under Nikum Block.

The healthcare team consisted of:

  • Dr. Gayatri Shyam – Medical Officer
  • Manish Deshmukh – Pharmacist
  • Renuka Verma – Nursing Staff
  • Vivek Dhruv – Registration Support

A total of 50 rural residents, including 28 men and 22 women, received comprehensive health check-ups, medical advice, and free essential medicines during the camp.

90 Rural Residents Receive Healthcare Support

Across both villages, a total of 90 beneficiaries received free healthcare services, highlighting BSP’s sustained efforts to bridge healthcare gaps in underserved rural areas. The camps focused on early diagnosis, preventive healthcare, and timely medical guidance, helping villagers access basic healthcare without financial burden.

CSR Initiative Strengthens Community Healthcare

The medical camps were successfully organized with the active support of the District Hospital, Durg, showcasing the strong partnership between the public healthcare system and Bhilai Steel Plant’s CSR programme.

Through such initiatives, BSP continues to invest in community welfare, public health awareness, and improved healthcare accessibility for people residing in remote villages. The company stated that these outreach programs form an integral part of its long-term commitment to strengthening community health infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life in surrounding rural communities.
