Hyderabad Flipkart, one of India’s leading e-commerce platforms, has introduced a new ‘Flipkart Pay Later’ credit service in partnership with PayU Finance, offering customers greater flexibility in managing their online purchases. The new payment solution will be available across Flipkart, Myntra, and Flipkart Minutes, providing users with multiple deferred payment options for both everyday shopping and high-value purchases.
The launch comes just days before the company’s much-awaited Flipkart Freedom Sale 2026, giving shoppers an additional financing option ahead of one of India’s biggest online shopping events.
Partnership with PayU Finance
The Flipkart Pay Later service has been developed in collaboration with PayU Finance, the Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) arm of PayU.
According to the company, the partnership aims to make digital shopping more convenient by reducing the immediate financial burden on customers while offering flexible repayment solutions.
The service is expected to cater to consumers looking for easier access to credit for both essential and discretionary purchases.
Three Flexible Repayment Options
Under the new Flipkart Pay Later service, customers can choose from three repayment options depending on the value of their purchases and repayment preferences.
1. Pay Later
This option allows customers to:
- Purchase products immediately.
- Repay the full amount within 30 days.
- Avoid immediate payment at the time of purchase.
It is designed primarily for everyday shopping and smaller purchases.
2. Pay in 3
Customers can divide their purchase amount into three equal installments, making payments more manageable without paying the entire amount upfront.
This option is expected to appeal to shoppers seeking short-term financing for medium-value purchases.
3. EMI Plans
For higher-value purchases, customers can opt for Equated Monthly Installments (EMIs) ranging from 3 to 12 months.
The EMI facility will be available for categories such as:
- Smartphones
- Consumer electronics
- Home appliances
- Furniture
Additionally, the company stated that the EMI option will also be extended to smaller purchases across:
- Flipkart Minutes
- Fashion
- Beauty products
- Other eligible categories
This wider availability distinguishes the new service from conventional EMI offerings that are typically limited to expensive products.
Expanded Payment Choices for Customers
Flipkart already offers multiple payment methods, including:
- UPI
- Digital wallets
- Credit cards
- Debit cards
- Net banking
- Cash on Delivery (COD)
- Gift cards
With the addition of Flipkart Pay Later, customers now have another financing alternative that allows them to spread out payments based on their financial needs.
The feature is expected to benefit consumers who may postpone purchases due to budget constraints by providing more flexible payment options.
Strategic Launch Before Freedom Sale 2026
The launch has been timed strategically ahead of the Flipkart Freedom Sale 2026, one of the company’s flagship annual shopping festivals.
According to Flipkart:
- The Freedom Sale will begin on August 8, 2026.
- Flipkart Plus and Flipkart Black members will receive 24-hour early access, with the sale starting at midnight on August 7.
The company has not yet announced the closing date of the sale, continuing its recent practice of keeping the duration flexible based on customer response and demand.
Additional SBI Credit Card Discount
During the Flipkart Freedom Sale 2026, customers using SBI Credit Cards for eligible purchases will receive an instant discount of 10%, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
The combination of promotional discounts and the newly introduced Pay Later service is expected to encourage higher consumer spending during the sale period.
Growing Demand for Flexible Digital Credit
The launch reflects the growing trend among e-commerce platforms to integrate embedded finance and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) solutions into online shopping experiences.
Flexible payment services have gained popularity among consumers seeking convenient financing options without making full upfront payments, particularly for electronics, lifestyle products, and everyday purchases.
By expanding repayment choices, Flipkart aims to enhance customer convenience while strengthening user engagement across its digital commerce ecosystem.
