NEW DELHI: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ms. Deepa D. Nair, IFoS (Tripura: 2001 Batch), as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Coconut Development Board (CDB) at the Joint Secretary (JS) level. The appointment has been made under the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
According to the official order, Deepa D. Nair will serve as CEO of the Coconut Development Board, Kochi, for a five-year tenure from the date she assumes charge of the post or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
Before taking up this prestigious assignment, Deepa D. Nair served as the Secretary of the Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD). A 2001-batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer, she has built an extensive career in public administration, environmental governance, and natural resource management.
The Coconut Development Board is a statutory organization functioning under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare. It is responsible for the integrated development of the coconut sector across India, including production enhancement, farmer welfare, research, technology dissemination, value addition, processing, exports, and promotion of coconut-based industries.
Officials believe that Deepa D. Nair’s experience in forest conservation, sustainable development, and government administration will contribute significantly to strengthening the country’s coconut economy and improving support for coconut growers.
