SJVN’s Rampur Hydro Plant Sets Record Output, Crosses 2,098 Million Units


Shimla  — SJVN Limited has announced a major milestone at its 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh, which has achieved its highest-ever annual electricity generation. The plant recorded a total output of 2,098.03 million units, surpassing its previous peak set in fiscal year 2019–20.

This achievement underscores the company’s continued focus on operational excellence and its growing contribution to India’s renewable energy capacity.

Leadership Highlights Milestone

Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN, described the accomplishment as a reflection of consistent performance, efficient plant management, and strong technical capabilities. He emphasized that the record demonstrates the company’s ability to maximize output while maintaining reliability in hydroelectric generation.

During a recent visit to the facility, Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), praised the workforce for their dedication and teamwork, noting that such achievements are driven by collective effort across all operational levels.

Vikas Marwah, who leads the Rampur facility, credited the milestone to the strategic vision of SJVN’s leadership and the continuous commitment of plant employees.

Early Achievement of Annual Target

In another notable accomplishment, the Rampur Hydro Power Station reached its design energy target of 1,878 million units for FY 2025–26 as early as December 8, 2025. This marks the fastest achievement of the annual target since the plant was commissioned, further highlighting its efficiency and strong operational planning.

Strategic Importance for Renewable Energy

Located in Himachal Pradesh, the Rampur Hydro Power Station plays a critical role in India’s clean energy mix. As a hydroelectric facility, it provides sustainable, low-carbon electricity while supporting grid stability and peak demand management.

SJVN, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise jointly owned by the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh, continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio across hydro, solar, and wind sectors.
