India Issues Nationwide Alert Amid Escalating West Asia Tensions After Killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader

New Delhi: India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed all states and Union Territories to remain on high alert following the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in a joint U.S.-Israeli military strike. The development has sparked protests in several parts of India and raised concerns over potential domestic unrest.

According to government sources, the MHA has instructed state authorities to identify and monitor radical elements or extremist preachers who may deliver provocative speeches in support of Iran. Officials warned that inflammatory rhetoric, particularly during religious gatherings, could incite communal tension or public disorder.

Heightened Security in the National Capital

Security has been significantly increased across New Delhi, especially in areas surrounding the U.S. and Iranian embassies. Authorities have also tightened security in neighborhoods with Israeli and Jewish communities. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to enhance intelligence-sharing mechanisms and take preventive measures to avoid any law-and-order disruptions.

Protests were reported in multiple cities, including Srinagar and Delhi. In the capital, demonstrators gathered at Jantar Mantar, where members of the All India Shia Council wore black attire to express mourning and solidarity.

Aviation Ministry Activates 24/7 Passenger Support

Amid growing instability in West Asia, India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has activated a 24/7 Passenger Assistance and Control Room (PACR) to address concerns related to air travel. The control center is actively handling passenger grievances and inquiries through official social media platforms, the AirSewa portal, and dedicated helpline numbers.

Working in coordination with airlines and airport operators, the PACR has reportedly resolved 411 passenger complaints so far, ensuring timely support during the ongoing crisis. Indian embassy helpline numbers in affected regions are also being shared with travelers on a priority basis.

Passengers seeking assistance can contact the ministry through its official channels or call the dedicated helpline numbers: 011-24604283 and 011-24632987.
