New Delhi, India — NBCC (India) Limited on Monday held high-level discussions with a delegation from the Republic of Seychelles, led by Vice President Sebastien Pillay, to explore collaboration on a large-scale island infrastructure development project.
The meeting, held at NBCC’s headquarters in New Delhi, focused on the proposed integrated development of approximately 139 acres of island land in Seychelles, covering residential, hospitality, and social infrastructure components.
Integrated Island Development Plan
During the discussions, NBCC made detailed presentations outlining a comprehensive master plan for the proposed development. According to officials, the project envisions a mixed-use infrastructure model designed to support sustainable urban growth and tourism development in the island nation.
Key components of the proposed plan include:
- Affordable and social housing projects
- Leisure and hospitality developments
- Premium residential villas
- A multi-purpose sports arena
- Social and community infrastructure facilities
The project is aimed at balancing economic development with environmental sensitivity, a key priority for island economies.
Continuation of Earlier Engagements
The discussions build on earlier high-level engagements between NBCC and the Government of Seychelles. NBCC’s Chairman and Managing Director, K. P. Mahadevaswamy, had visited Seychelles in January 2026, where initial deliberations were held with senior government officials on infrastructure cooperation.
Showcasing Global Project Experience
The Seychelles delegation was also briefed on NBCC’s international execution capabilities, including its successful delivery of the 2,000-unit social housing project at Hulhumale in the Maldives, a flagship overseas assignment that utilized Indian construction materials and skilled workforce.
Vice President Pillay and members of the delegation expressed confidence in NBCC’s technical expertise and project management capabilities, officials said, and appreciated the detailed and structured presentations made during the meeting.
Strengthening India–Seychelles Partnership
NBCC is currently executing several key projects in Seychelles, including the construction of:
- The Indian Chancery Building
- A Cultural Centre
- Residential housing units
These projects reflect India’s broader commitment to strengthening development cooperation and infrastructure partnerships with Seychelles.
Speaking on the occasion, CMD Mahadevaswamy reaffirmed NBCC’s commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable infrastructure solutions and expressed optimism about expanding collaboration with Seychelles across multiple sectors.
The visit highlights the deepening India–Seychelles partnership and underscores a shared vision to enhance infrastructure development, urban planning, and long-term economic growth in the island nation.
