Raipur: To manage the heavy passenger rush during the Holi festival, the South East Central Railway has announced the operation of special trains on key routes. A total of 14 round trips will be operated from major stations including Durg, Bilaspur, and Gondia to ensure smooth travel during the festive season.
Holi will be celebrated on March 3, and considering the surge in travel demand, IRCTC is facilitating special train services to provide passengers with confirmed berths and a comfortable journey.
Confirmed Berths During Peak Holi Travel
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Raipur Railway Division, Avdhesh Kumar Trivedi, stated that these Holi Special Trains are being introduced to control overcrowding and ensure hassle-free travel with confirmed reservations during the festival period.
Train Operations and Routes
- Durg–Hazrat Nizamuddin–Durg Holi Special will run two round trips, stopping at major stations including Raipur, Usalapur, Pendra Road, Anuppur, Shahdol, and Umaria.
- Gondia–Chhapra–Gondia Holi Special will operate two separate services on different dates, covering important stations such as Rajnandgaon, Durg, Raipur, Bhatapara, Bilaspur, and Shahdol.
- Durg–Madhubani–Durg Holi Special will run one round trip via Jharsuguda, with stops at Raipur, Bilaspur, Champa, and Raigarh.
- Gondia–Patna–Gondia Holi Special will operate one round trip, connecting central India to eastern regions.
- Bilaspur–Charlapalli–Bilaspur Holi Special will run via Balharshah, providing connectivity to southern India.
Railway officials said these special services will significantly benefit passengers traveling home for Holi, one of India’s most widely celebrated festivals.
