Rourkela Steel Plant Sets New Record With 8,159 Tonnes of Slag Despatched in a Single Day


Rourkela, India — Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has set a new operational benchmark after its Materials Recovery Department (MRD) recorded the highest-ever single-day slag despatch of 8,159.12 tonnes on February 18, 2026.

The record was achieved through 279 vehicle trips in one day, surpassing the previous best performance registered in January 2026. The milestone highlights the department’s strong execution capabilities and sustained focus on efficiency in by-product management.
