Kondagaon: Thirteen ticket counters were formally inaugurated at the newly developed Inter-State Bus Terminal in Kondagaon on Tuesday, marking a major step toward streamlined public transport services in the district. A groundbreaking ceremony was also held for the construction of eight new commercial complexes within the bus terminal premises.
The inauguration was led by Municipal Council President Narpati Patel in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ajay Uraon, elected representatives, bus operators, and local residents.
Officials said the launch of the ticket counters would eliminate confusion for passengers and bring all ticketing services under one roof, ensuring smoother and more organized bus operations.
One-Stop Ticketing Facility for Passengers
Patel said the initiative was a key step toward making the new bus terminal fully operational. With centralized ticket counters now functional, passengers will no longer need to search for tickets at multiple locations, significantly reducing congestion and disorder.
He added that more basic amenities would be introduced in the coming months to provide travelers with a safer and more comfortable environment.
Groundbreaking for Eight New Complexes
SDM Ajay Uraon said that along with the ticket counters, a foundation-laying ceremony was conducted for eight commercial complexes. These facilities are expected to boost economic activity and provide essential services such as shops and utilities within the bus terminal campus.
To ensure a smooth transition, the old bus stand has been officially closed, and all bus operations have been shifted to the new terminal.
Temporary Arrangements Until Kondagaon Fair
As a temporary measure, designated bus stoppages have been set up at various locations across the city to guide passengers during the transition period. These arrangements will remain in place until the conclusion of the Kondagaon fair, after which all buses will operate via the bypass road.
Heavy Vehicles Diverted to Bypass Route
The district administration has directed that heavy vehicles avoid entering the city and use the bypass road instead to reduce traffic congestion. The traffic department has been instructed to enforce the order, and coordination meetings with local traders, bus operators, and auto-rickshaw drivers will be held to ensure smooth and disciplined operations at the new bus terminal.
Officials said the measures are expected to improve urban traffic flow while providing modern and efficient transport facilities for residents and visitors alike.
