Bilaspur : South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) emerged as the champion of the Coal India Limited (CIL) Inter-Company Hockey Tournament 2025–26 after defeating Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) by a convincing 6–1 margin in the grand finale held at the Late B.R. Yadav International Hockey Stadium in Bahtarai, Bilaspur.
The tournament, hosted under the aegis of SECL, concluded with high energy, discipline, and exemplary sportsmanship. In the final match, SECL delivered a commanding performance marked by sharp attacking moves, strong defense, and excellent team coordination. CCL also put up a spirited fight, earning appreciation from spectators for their skill and determination.
The closing ceremony was attended by Biranchi Das, Director (Human Resources), SECL, who served as the Chief Guest, and D. Sunil Kumar, Director (Finance), SECL, as the Special Guest. The dignitaries presented trophies and awards to the winning and runner-up teams.
Several prominent officials and representatives were present at the event, including Manish Shrivastava, Secretary, Hockey Chhattisgarh, and Rohitashwa Bajpai, President, Hockey Bilaspur, along with members of the Coal India Welfare Board, SECL Operating Committee, SECL Welfare Mandal, Headquarters and Area JCC members, Regional Welfare Committee members, and representatives from various councils and associations. A large number of SECL officers and employees also attended the event.
Earlier in the day, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) secured third place by defeating Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in the third-place playoff match.
The successful organization of the tournament highlighted the strong spirit of unity, teamwork, and sporting culture within the Coal India family. SECL extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all participating teams for their enthusiastic involvement and competitive spirit.
