Durg, Chhattisgarh |Durg Police have registered a serious criminal case involving the repeated sexual assault and gang rape of a minor girl over an extended period, officials said on Thursday. The case has been filed at the Women Police Station, Durg district, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to police, the minor survivor, accompanied by her mother, approached the police station on January 30 and submitted a written complaint. In her statement, the victim alleged that between April 2018 and October 2025, six individuals sexually assaulted her multiple times, despite being aware that she was a minor at the time of the incidents.
Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR under Sections 65(1) and 70(2) of the BNS, along with Sections 6 and 12 of the POCSO Act, which deal with aggravated sexual assault and sexual harassment of a child.
Acting swiftly during the investigation, police have arrested two accused persons, while efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining suspects. Raids are being conducted at possible locations linked to the absconding accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Vijay Swain (37), resident of Durga Nagar, West Bhilai
- Anil Chaudhary (60), resident of Zone One, Khursipar
Police officials stated that the investigation is being carried out with due sensitivity and in accordance with legal procedures, keeping the victim’s identity protected as mandated by law. Evidence collected during the probe is currently under examination.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring strict action against all those involved and have assured that no accused will be spared.
