New Delhi, November 29, 2025:
With Cyclone Ditwah approaching the Tamil Nadu coast, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a high-level review with the General Manager and officials of Southern Railway to assess preparedness measures and ensure passenger safety and minimal disruption of rail services.
During the review, the Union Minister stressed the need to establish dedicated helplines and passenger-assistance desks for travellers who may face uncertainty due to train cancellations, delays, or rerouting caused by the cyclone.
Shri Vaishnaw reiterated the Indian Railways’ commitment to public safety, directing officials to activate War Rooms at divisional, zonal and Railway Board levels to closely monitor the situation round the clock. He also instructed teams to remain fully alert for any emergency developments.
To ensure smooth coordination during the cyclone, the Minister ordered railway authorities to work in close coordination with local civil administration and maintain timely, proactive communication with passengers until conditions return to normal.
