Guwahati: Five people were killed and one was critically injured in a shooting that took place in the heart of Guwahati on Monday evening. The incident occurred at Hotel Bilas Inn of Bora Service, triggering widespread anger among residents of the city.
According to reports, unidentified assailants opened fire at the hotel before fleeing the scene. The injured were rushed to hospital. Two of them were taken to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where one later succumbed to injuries. Satyendra Pathak, 42, remains in critical condition and is under treatment.
City Police Commissioner Parthasarathi Mahanta told the media that four people had died in the shooting and assured that the perpetrators would be arrested soon. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The brazen attack in a central part of the city has left residents deeply disturbed, with many expressing outrage over the violence.
