Smriti Irani’s Visit Strengthened BJP Organisation, Opposition’s Narrative Failed: Kiran Singh Deo

Raipur: Chhattisgarh BJP president Kiran Singh Deo on Monday described Union Minister Smriti Irani’s two-day visit to the state as organisationally significant, stating that it had further strengthened the party structure while the opposition’s “dirty narrative” had failed.

Deo said the visit began with the party leadership listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme. Thereafter, a series of meetings were held across nearly 12 organisational categories involving office-bearers and elected representatives. These sessions focused on finalising the roadmap for upcoming programmes, ensuring that welfare schemes of the central and state governments reach the booth level, and consolidating the party organisation. Some meetings included introduction sessions, while others provided specific directions on organisational activities and future programmes.

The state president emphasised that all office-bearers and workers would play a crucial role in taking party programmes down to the grassroots. He noted that Smriti Irani had met party MLAs, introduced herself, and obtained updates on developmental works and activities in their respective assembly constituencies. Discussions also covered the ‘Seva Sankalp’ resolutions taken the previous month and programmes linked to the Prime Minister, for which she provided guidance.

‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ Campaign

Deo announced that the BJP has launched the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) campaign. Although originally scheduled to begin on the 22nd, the programme has now started from October 25-26 at various levels across districts and will continue until November 5. Party workers will organise activities under different categories to take the campaign’s message to the public.

Targeting the opposition and the INDIA alliance, Deo alleged that attempts had been made to spread misconceptions and create confusion about the democratic system in the country. Referring to recent events in Nepal and Bangladesh, he questioned whether similar developments could be repeated to bring about a change of power in India. “The people of India have made it clear that governments change only through the ballot,” he said, underscoring that India is the world’s largest democracy and that power transfer occurs solely through democratic processes.

He further claimed that efforts had been made to bring people from abroad to form groups and create an atmosphere against the country’s democracy. According to him, the public is already responding to what he described as the opposition’s incorrect narrative. BJP workers, he added, will take the party’s message to the people through the ongoing campaign until November 5.

Response to Congress Remarks

Reacting to Congress comments on BJP’s organisational meetings, Deo said those making statements from outside had no knowledge of the discussions held inside. He alleged that the Congress was sitting in its office and commenting on the BJP’s internal meetings. He pointed out that whenever a state in-charge visits, meetings are routinely organised across eight to twelve different categories, reflecting the structured nature of the party’s organisational work. He said he did not wish to make any unnecessary comments on the matter.

Deo added that BJP ministers and MLAs are an integral part of the party organisation and have been directed to participate actively in organisational programmes. Better coordination between the organisation and elected representatives, he said, would ensure that party initiatives effectively reach the ground level.
