CMD Harish Duhan and senior management pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi; tree plantation held under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’

Bilaspur : South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) observed Gandhi Jayanti at its headquarters in Bilaspur on Friday with a series of activities organised under Swachhata Hi Seva and Special Campaign 6.0.

As part of the celebrations, SECL organised a ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Happy Run’ from Vasant Vihar Colony to Gandhi Udyan at Nehru Shatabdi Nagar. A large number of SECL officials, employees and contractual workers participated in the run.

Members of the SECL Board, including Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das and Director (Finance) D. Sunil Kumar, along with Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, heads of departments, officers, employees and contractual personnel took part in the event.

Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

The Happy Run concluded at Gandhi Udyan, where the main Gandhi Jayanti programme was organised.

SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan attended the programme along with members of the Board of Directors, the CVO, senior officials and employees.

The programme began with garlanding of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and floral tributes. CMD Harish Duhan, members of the Board, CVO and other senior officials paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his message of cleanliness and public participation.

Tree Plantation Under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’

Following the tribute ceremony, a tree plantation drive was conducted at Gandhi Udyan under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative as part of Swachhata Hi Seva and Special Campaign 6.

The plantation activity highlighted the importance of environmental responsibility and community participation alongside the cleanliness campaign.

Cleanliness Pledge Administered

During the programme, all participating officers, employees and contractual workers were administered a cleanliness pledge.

Participants pledged to remain conscious of cleanliness in their daily lives and to contribute their time towards cleanliness-related activities.

As part of the pledge, they resolved to dedicate 100 hours every year, equivalent to two hours every week, to cleanliness through voluntary participation and shramdaan.

The event saw participation from a large number of heads of departments, senior officers, employees and contractual workers from different departments of the SECL headquarters.

The programme was conducted by Varun Sharma, Senior Manager (Human Resources/Industrial Relations).
