41 Absconding Accused Arrested Under ‘Operation Baaz’ in Mungeli District

Mungeli, Chhattisgarh |Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel (IPS), the Mungeli Police conducted a special drive titled “Operation Baaz”, leading to the arrest of 41 absconding permanent warrant holders across the district.

The coordinated operation was carried out within five days across police station and outpost jurisdictions of Mungeli, as well as neighboring areas including Raipur and Bilaspur. The arrested accused were produced before the concerned courts.

According to police officials, the warrants had been issued by courts in Raipur, Bilaspur, and Mungeli against individuals who were absconding in cases related to jailbreak, theft, assault, and other criminal offenses. Following their arrest, the accused were sent to judicial custody.

The operation was executed under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Navneet Kaur Chhabra and Mayank Tiwari, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh. The Cyber Cell provided technical support, while local intelligence inputs played a key role in tracking down the fugitives.

Police stated that among the arrested warrant holders, 15 were from City Kotwali Mungeli, 7 from Lormi, 5 each from Patharia and Saragaon, 4 from Jarhagaon, 2 from Lalpur, and one each from Chilfi, Saket Outpost, and Khudia. Warrants against two accused could not be executed due to their reported deaths and were marked as unserved.

Notably, police also arrested a long-absconding accused who had escaped from District Jail Mungeli in 2019, along with other suspects involved in theft and assault cases. Additionally, two permanent warrant holders wanted by Raipur courts and one by a Bilaspur court were arrested and produced before the respective courts.

The district police credited the success of the operation to the combined efforts of all police station in-charges, outpost officers, and the Cyber Cell team, reaffirming their commitment to strict enforcement of court orders and public safety.
