Women Sensitized on ‘Champions of Parenting’ and IEC Activities under Poshan Maah

Mungeli: As part of Poshan Maah, an awareness programme was organized at Anganwadi Centre Kodwabani Centre No. 2, Rohra Khurd, under the Child Development Project Kodwabani No. 2. The programme focused on creating awareness among women about the importance of proper nutrition, health, hygiene, childcare and positive parenting for the healthy growth and overall development of children.

During the programme, women were provided with important information related to child nutrition, healthcare, personal hygiene, sanitation and proper upbringing. Special emphasis was laid on the role of parents and family members in ensuring that children receive adequate nutrition, proper care, a safe environment and opportunities for their overall physical, mental and emotional development.

Under the theme ‘Champions of Parenting’, participants were sensitized about the significant role played by parents and family members in the upbringing and development of children. They were encouraged to pay special attention to children’s nutritional needs, health, hygiene, emotional well-being and daily care. The importance of creating a supportive and nurturing environment at home was also discussed.

The programme also included various IEC (Information, Education and Communication) activities aimed at strengthening awareness among women and community members. Through simple and easy-to-understand messages, the Anganwadi workers explained the importance of a balanced and nutritious diet, cleanliness, personal hygiene, sanitation and healthy habits for children and families.

Women were informed about the importance of including nutritious food in their daily meals and ensuring that children receive adequate and diverse nutrition according to their age and needs. They were also encouraged to follow proper hygiene practices and maintain cleanliness in and around their homes to help prevent illnesses and promote better health.

The participants were further motivated to adopt nutrition-related information in their daily lives and share these messages with other families in their neighbourhood and community. The Anganwadi workers explained key messages related to nutrition and child development in a simple and accessible manner so that the information could be easily understood and implemented at the household level.

The awareness programme highlighted that proper nutrition and childcare are not only the responsibility of individual parents but also require the active participation of families and the wider community. Community involvement plays an important role in identifying nutritional concerns, promoting healthy practices and creating an environment conducive to the healthy development of children.

The observance of Poshan Maah aims to strengthen public awareness about nutrition through community participation, promote healthy dietary and hygiene practices, prevent malnutrition and encourage collective efforts for the well-being of women and children. Such awareness activities at the Anganwadi level help take important nutrition and child-development messages directly to families and communities.

The programme concluded with an appeal to all participants to remain actively involved in promoting proper nutrition, hygiene, healthcare and positive parenting practices, thereby contributing to the healthy growth and a bright future for children.
