Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh | July 28, 2026: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) organized an inspiring awareness program on the theme “Safe Mind, Safe Mine” at its headquarters in Bilaspur, highlighting the critical role of mental well-being, positive work culture, and psychological resilience in ensuring mine safety. The event was conducted under the National Campaign on Environmental Protection and Disaster Management and focused on strengthening employees’ mental preparedness alongside operational safety.
A major highlight of the event was the official launch of the “SECL – Inner Excellence Series,” an initiative designed to promote personality development, self-improvement, and workplace excellence among SECL employees. The program was jointly organized by SECL and the Scientists, Engineers and Architects Wing of the Brahma Kumaris.
The event was presided over by SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Harish Duhan, while B.K. Piyush Bhai, National Coordinator of the Scientists, Engineers and Architects Wing of the Brahma Kumaris, addressed the gathering as the keynote speaker. The program was attended by Director (Technical/Operations) N. Franklin Jayakumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, Director (Technical/Planning & Projects) Ramesh Chandra Mahapatra, B.K. Manju Didi, along with senior officials and employees from SECL headquarters and various operational areas.
During his keynote address, B.K. Piyush Bhai stressed that “Mind Safety is the strongest foundation of Mine Safety.” He explained that the true safety of any mining operation depends not only on advanced technology, modern machinery, and strict safety protocols, but also on the balanced, focused, and positive mindset of every employee working at the site.
He encouraged employees to cultivate positive thinking, remain focused on the present, practice smart work, give 100 percent commitment, and adopt regular meditation as essential tools for building a safe, productive, and stress-free workplace.
Addressing the gathering, SECL CMD Harish Duhan urged employees to strive for continuous self-improvement, stating, “Improve yourself every day and make your best contribution to nation-building.” He emphasized that every employee should perform their responsibilities with dedication, integrity, discipline, and a positive attitude, as these values are essential for both organizational excellence and national development.
As part of the program, the “SECL – Inner Excellence Series” was formally inaugurated to encourage employees to enhance their personal and professional capabilities. Participants also took a collective pledge reaffirming their commitment to Environmental Protection and Disaster Management.
The event concluded with a special guided meditation session, where employees were introduced to practical techniques for achieving mental peace, stress management, emotional balance, and a positive lifestyle. The session reinforced the message that mental fitness is a key component of occupational safety, employee well-being, and sustainable productivity in the mining sector.
