Students Learn About the Role of NSS in Social Service, Leadership and Community Participation
Hasoud : The National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Government Naveen College, Hasoud, in Sakti district on September 24. The programme saw active participation from the college principal, faculty members, officers and employees, as well as students from different classes.
The programme began with an address by the college principal, who explained the significance and objectives of the National Service Scheme. He informed the students that the NSS was established on September 24, 1969, and the day is observed every year as NSS Foundation Day.
Highlighting the importance of NSS in student life, the principal explained its core objectives and its contribution to the overall personality development of young people. He said the scheme is designed to develop a spirit of social service, national service, social responsibility, leadership, discipline and community participation among students.
He further said that NSS provides students with opportunities to work with different sections of society and understand challenges faced by rural and local communities. Through such activities, students can contribute to identifying social issues and participating in efforts aimed at addressing them.
NSS Activities and Future Programme Plan Presented
Several activities related to the National Service Scheme were organised during the programme.
NSS Programme Officer Dr Manoj Kumar Banjare presented an overview of various activities and programmes conducted under the NSS in previous years. He highlighted the service-oriented initiatives undertaken throughout the year, social awareness programmes and the participation of students in different community activities.
He also shared an outline of the NSS programmes proposed for the coming period and encouraged students to remain actively involved in community-oriented initiatives.
Students Guided on the Spirit of Service
On the occasion, Sevak Das Vaishnav, Guest Lecturer in the Department of Computer Applications, presented the NSS theme song.
T. S. Maitri, Aseem Bajpai and D. S. Sידar also guided the students and spoke about the importance of participating in activities that promote social responsibility and community service.
NSS student Sushil conducted the programme as the stage anchor and coordinated the proceedings smoothly.

The programme concluded with the active participation of the college principal, faculty members, officers, employees and students.
The NSS Foundation Day celebration provided students with an opportunity to understand the organisation’s objectives and the importance of contributing to society beyond academic education.
