Bilaspur Jewellers’ Leader Turns Street Vendor to Celebrate BJP’s Bengal Victory with “Jhalmuri Fest”

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh (India) — In a celebration that blended politics with street culture, Kamal Soni, President of the Chhattisgarh Sarafa (Jewellers) Association, marked the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory in West Bengal in a uniquely local style—by personally serving jhalmuri, a popular Bengali street snack, to citizens and party workers.

The event, held in Bilaspur, quickly drew attention for its unconventional approach. Instead of a typical political gathering or rally, Soni took on the role of a street vendor, distributing freshly prepared jhalmuri among attendees, symbolizing both celebration and cultural connection with Bengal.

Speaking at the gathering, Soni credited the party’s success to strong leadership and grassroots efforts. He highlighted the guidance of national president Nitin Naveen and the leadership of Saurabh Singh, noting that a group of dedicated Sarafa Association members from Bilaspur had actively campaigned in West Bengal for nearly six weeks leading up to the election.

“This victory belongs to the people,” Soni said. “It reflects their trust in development and governance. Celebrating such a moment is important, and we wanted to do it in a way that connects with Bengal’s culture.”

The celebration saw a large turnout, with residents and BJP supporters coming together to mark the occasion. People were seen exchanging greetings, enjoying the festive atmosphere, and relishing the jhalmuri served at the venue.

Observers noted that the event created a lively and inclusive environment in the city, offering a refreshing departure from conventional political celebrations. By choosing a humble and culturally symbolic gesture, Soni’s initiative resonated with many and added a distinctive flavor to the victory celebrations.

The BJP’s win in West Bengal is being viewed by party leaders as a significant milestone, signaling the party’s expanding influence in regions traditionally dominated by other political forces.

As celebrations continue across various parts of the country, Bilaspur’s “jhalmuri fest” stands out as a reminder that political victories can also be marked with creativity, community engagement, and a touch of local flavor.
