Financial Inclusion Campaign Launched Across 11,689 Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies in Chhattisgarh

Special drive to run until December 31, 2026, to connect eligible citizens with banking services, insurance, pension schemes and financial assistance

Raipur : A special Financial Inclusion Saturation Campaign is underway across Chhattisgarh to ensure that eligible citizens gain access to banking facilities, social security schemes and other financial services. The campaign, being conducted from October 21 to December 31, aims to reach people who remain outside the formal banking system.

Organised in accordance with the directions of the Union Ministry of Finance, the campaign covers 11,689 gram panchayats and urban local bodies across all 33 districts and 146 development blocks of the state. Special camps are being organised by bank branches in nearby villages and urban areas to help people enrol in welfare schemes and complete essential banking formalities.

Special Camps to Provide Banking and Financial Services

Deepak Kumar Abhishek, Convenor of the State Level Bankers’ Committee, Chhattisgarh, and Deputy General Manager of the State Bank of India, said that participating banks are organising camps to provide information on financial literacy, social security schemes, digital banking and the prevention of financial fraud.

Bank officials are helping eligible beneficiaries complete registration procedures and collect the documents required to access various schemes and services.

The campaign places particular emphasis on enrolment under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). Other key activities include Aadhaar seeding for social security insurance schemes, opening new accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and reactivating dormant bank accounts.

Facilities are also being provided to open bank accounts for families belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). People can complete re-KYC formalities for Jan Dhan and other savings accounts and register or update nominations for their bank accounts and lockers.

Insurance Cover and Pension Benefits Explained

The campaign is also helping citizens understand the benefits and eligibility requirements of key social security schemes.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, eligible individuals aged 18 to 70 can obtain accident insurance cover of up to ₹2 lakh for accidental death or total disability at an annual premium of ₹20.

The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana provides life insurance cover of ₹2 lakh for death due to any cause for eligible individuals aged 18 to 50, subject to the scheme’s terms and conditions. The annual premium cited for the scheme is ₹436.

Under the Atal Pension Yojana, subscribers can receive a monthly pension after turning 60, subject to the applicable eligibility rules and contributions.

Officials are encouraging eligible citizens to use the camps to understand these schemes and complete enrolment formalities.

Support for Farmers and Recovery of Unclaimed Assets

The campaign also includes measures to improve farmers’ access to financial services. Applications for Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans are being collected from eligible beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. Farmers are also being provided information about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana ahead of the upcoming rabi crop season.

In addition, citizens are being informed about unclaimed financial assets through the “Your Capital, Your Right” campaign. Awareness sessions are also focusing on safe digital transactions and ways to identify and avoid online financial fraud.

Citizens Urged to Visit Nearest Bank Camp

The state-level banking committee has appealed to citizens to visit their nearest campaign camp, check their eligibility for the available schemes and complete pending bank account-related formalities.

The state government, gram panchayats and urban local bodies have also been urged to cooperate actively to ensure that the campaign reaches its intended beneficiaries before December 31, 2026.

The initiative aims to expand access to banking, insurance and pension services while strengthening financial awareness and helping more people benefit from government-backed financial schemes.
