The programme aimed to raise awareness among women, children and local residents about balanced diets, personal hygiene, maternal and child health, and the prevention of malnutrition.
Several creative competitions were organised to promote public participation and spread awareness. Women and young girls participated enthusiastically in mehndi and rangoli competitions, using artistic designs to convey messages related to nutrition, cleanliness and healthy living.
A ‘Healthy Baby Competition’ was also organised to sensitise parents about the nutritional status of children, regular immunisation, breastfeeding and the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
Addressing the gathering, Meena Gond, Supervisor with the Women and Child Development Department, said that balanced and nutritious food forms the foundation for the overall physical and mental development of children. She urged mothers and parents to remain attentive to their children’s nutrition and hygiene and to ensure regular health check-ups.
She also provided information about nutritional care for pregnant and lactating women and various government schemes aimed at preventing malnutrition.
Subhita Shukla, NITI Aayog representative from Aspirational Development Block Lakhanpur, said that nutrition awareness must reach every family to build a healthy society. She encouraged residents to include locally available seasonal fruits, green vegetables and other nutritious foods in their daily diet as an effective way to address malnutrition.
She also highlighted the close link between hygiene and nutrition and encouraged families to adopt healthy sanitation and hygiene practices in their daily lives.
Artists from Samarpan Lok Kala Manch used traditional folk songs and cultural performances to communicate messages on nutrition, hygiene and balanced diets in a simple and engaging manner.
At the programme, participants took a pledge to make nutrition and hygiene an integral part of their daily routine and lifestyle rather than limiting these practices to Nutrition Month alone.
A large number of local women, children, Anganwadi workers, teachers and other community members participated in the programme.
