The Vice President said AI will open new opportunities, create jobs and take India’s economic progress to the next level, while stressing the need for technological self-reliance.
New Delhi : Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Friday launched ‘Gyaani Arth’, a sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) stack developed by Gyaani AI, at the Vice President’s Enclave in New Delhi.
The platform combines Evon 3.3, a large language model (LLM), with Plexus, a platform designed to connect AI intelligence with real-world tasks and institutions. The initiative was presented as a step towards strengthening India’s domestic AI capabilities and advancing technological self-reliance.
Evon 3.3 and Plexus: Two Key Components
According to the information shared during the launch, Evon 3.3 serves as the large language model component of the stack, while Plexus provides the platform layer that connects AI capabilities with practical applications, institutions and real-world activities.
Welcoming the launch, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan said the combination of Evon 3.3 and Plexus demonstrates the growing strength of India’s technology ecosystem.
He emphasized that Indian engineers are increasingly capable not only of adopting advanced technologies but also of designing and developing them domestically.
AI Can Create New Jobs and Growth Opportunities
The Vice President highlighted the dramatic transformation in technology over the decades—from the era of typewriters and limited computer usage to today’s world of artificial intelligence and large language models.
Recalling earlier concerns that computers could replace large numbers of jobs, he pointed out that the information technology sector instead created substantial employment opportunities in India and abroad.
He expressed confidence that artificial intelligence could similarly generate new employment and economic opportunities, helping India take its economic growth to a higher level.
India’s AI Ecosystem Growing Rapidly
Radhakrishnan also highlighted India’s progress in artificial intelligence and referred to initiatives such as the IndiaAI Mission and AI Centres of Excellence as important drivers of the country’s technological transformation.
He attributed a significant part of India’s growing technological capabilities to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly the government’s political commitment and its “India First” approach.
According to the Vice President, these efforts are helping India strengthen its capabilities in emerging technologies and move towards greater technological independence.
AI Being Used in Parliament
The Vice President also highlighted the use of artificial intelligence in India’s parliamentary system.
He said that through the Digital Parliament portal, parliamentary debates and documents can be accessed in multiple Indian languages.
He further noted that an AI-based translation service covering eight languages was introduced during the recently concluded parliamentary session. The service is expected to be expanded to all scheduled Indian languages in the future.
‘India Should Not Remain Only a Consumer of Technology’
A major theme of the Vice President’s address was the need for India to move beyond being primarily a consumer of technology.
Emphasising the importance of indigenous technological capabilities, he said:
“We should not always remain consumers; we must create, so that others can consume what we create.”
The statement underlined the government’s broader objective of building domestic capabilities in strategic and emerging technologies.
Focus on Sovereign AI Capabilities
The Vice President stressed the importance of developing sovereign AI capabilities to strengthen India’s technological and strategic autonomy.
He said that technological self-reliance would be particularly important in areas that have strategic implications for India’s economy and national security.
He also referred to semiconductor manufacturing, stating that India could have started manufacturing chips much earlier and might potentially have emerged as a global leader in the sector. He noted that the semiconductor industry has received renewed momentum under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
AI and the Vision of Viksit Bharat @2047
Radhakrishnan described technological capability as an important pillar of India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat @2047.
He said initiatives such as Gyaani Arth should be viewed as part of a larger national effort focused on:
- Technological self-reliance
- Indigenous AI development
- Innovation
- Strategic autonomy
- Economic growth
- Global technological leadership
The development of domestic AI systems could also help India build greater control over critical digital infrastructure and reduce dependence on technologies developed outside the country.

During the launch, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan congratulated Gyaani AI CEO Ganesh Gopalan and Co-founder and CTO Anant Nagaraj for developing the platform.
He expressed hope that Gyaani Arth would contribute to India’s broader journey towards becoming a strong, self-reliant and technologically empowered nation.

The launch of Gyaani Arth comes at a time when India is placing increasing emphasis on domestic artificial intelligence capabilities, advanced computing, semiconductor manufacturing and digital public infrastructure.
With Evon 3.3 providing the language-model capability and Plexus connecting AI intelligence with practical applications, the initiative seeks to demonstrate how home-grown AI technology can be developed for real-world institutional and economic use.
The Vice President’s message at the launch was clear: India’s future technological strength will depend not only on how effectively the country uses AI, but also on its ability to develop, own and deploy advanced AI technologies of its own.
