IPS Officer Rajshri Mishra Selected for Second Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence

Raipur : Chhattisgarh-cadre IPS officer Rajshri Mishra has been selected for the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence (KGDP)-2026 for her outstanding work in the field of intelligence. She currently serves as Superintendent of Police of the state’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

A 2018-batch officer, Mishra has been recognised for leading a nearly six-month confidential investigation that uncovered a suspected online radicalisation module in Raipur. The probe identified two minors whose digital activities indicated alleged links to the dissemination of ISIS-inspired propaganda material.

Under her supervision, the ATS conducted the investigation using technical surveillance and human intelligence sources. After establishing digital linkages, the team identified the two minors. Given the sensitive nature of the case, intelligence inputs and digital evidence were thoroughly examined before action was taken under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Proceedings concerning the minors were conducted in accordance with the prescribed provisions of the Juvenile Justice system.

A chargesheet was filed within the stipulated timeframe before the designated Juvenile Justice Board at Mana. Officials clarified that the investigation focused on suspected online radicalisation and the alleged circulation of extremist content. There is no claim that the two minors planned or executed any terrorist attack.

This is the second Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence for Mishra. She had earlier received the award for excellence during training. In January 2026, she was also conferred the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service.

The recognition underscores the importance of timely detection of radical ideologies spreading through digital platforms and effective intelligence-led intervention. It also highlights the need, in such sensitive cases, to carefully distinguish between suspicious online behaviour and criminal involvement established through evidence. Officials stated that the entire investigation was completed within the applicable legal framework and prescribed timelines.
