75 workers honoured for outstanding contribution; sanitation workers also recognised under Special Campaign 6.0
Bilaspur : South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) organised the second edition of the SECL Vishwakarma Awards at its headquarters in Bilaspur on Thursday to mark Vishwakarma Jayanti and the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A total of 75 workers who have made notable contributions to SECL’s mining and operational activities were honoured during the ceremony.
The event was attended by SECL Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das, Director (Technical–Operations) Ramesh Chandra Mahapatra, and Director (Technical–Planning/Projects, Additional Charge) Nripendra Nath, along with members of the Operations Committee, Welfare Board and Safety Committee. Representatives of trade unions, SISTA, OBC, SC/ST organisations and associations, heads of departments, and officers and employees from SECL’s operational areas were also present.
75 Regular and Contract Workers Honoured
The awards recognised 75 regular and contract employees for their contribution to operations, maintenance, supervisory responsibilities and other technical activities at SECL’s mines.
The Vishwakarma Awards have been instituted to acknowledge the contribution of employees working at the ground level and recognise their skills, dedication and commitment. This year marked the second edition of the awards.
Addressing the gathering, SECL Director (HR) Biranchi Das said that Lord Vishwakarma symbolises creation, skill and hard work. He noted that workers engaged in the mining industry are contributing significantly to the country’s energy security through their skills and efforts.
Das said honouring workers on Vishwakarma Jayanti and the Prime Minister’s birthday was a mark of respect and gratitude for their contribution.
Union Coal and Mines Minister’s Message Read Out
During the programme, a message sent by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy for coal workers was also read out.
The message highlighted the contribution of coal workers to the country’s energy security and development and expressed appreciation for their hard work, dedication and role in nation-building.
Sanitation Workers Also Recognised
Sanitation workers who have contributed to maintaining cleanliness and orderly workplaces at SECL were also felicitated as part of activities under Swachhata Hi Seva and Special Campaign 6.0.
The initiative emphasised making cleanliness a part of everyday workplace culture and maintaining workspaces that are clean, safe and well organised.
Under Special Campaign 6.0, SECL headquarters and its operational areas are undertaking activities related to cleanliness, disposal of pending matters, better utilisation of space, record management and effective handling of e-waste, among other initiatives.
The Vishwakarma Jayanti programme at SECL brought together the themes of work, skill, cleanliness and commitment to the country’s energy security, while recognising the contribution of workers engaged in the company’s mining and operational activities.
