Rajya Sabha Chairman Administers Oath to Re-Elected MP Neeraj Dangi in Parliament


New Delhi : Rajya Sabha Chairman Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan on Monday administered the Oath of Office to Shri Neeraj Dangi, who was recently re-elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Rajasthan. The oath-taking ceremony was held at Parliament House, New Delhi, in the presence of senior constitutional authorities, Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, and top officials of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.

Shri Neeraj Dangi took the oath in Hindi, officially reaffirming his membership in the Upper House of Parliament following his re-election. The ceremony marked an important constitutional step, enabling him to resume his legislative responsibilities in the Rajya Sabha.

Senior Dignitaries Attend the Ceremony

The formal oath-taking event was attended by several prominent leaders and senior officials, including:

  • Shri Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha
  • Shri Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs
  • Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilizers
  • Shri Jairam Ramesh, Member of the Rajya Sabha
  • Shri P. C. Mody, Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha
  • Senior officers of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat

The presence of senior government leaders and parliamentary officials underscored the constitutional importance of the ceremony and the continuity of India’s democratic institutions.

Constitutional Importance of the Oath

The administration of the oath is a mandatory constitutional requirement for every elected or re-elected Member of Parliament before they can formally participate in the proceedings of the House.

By taking the oath, Shri Neeraj Dangi reaffirmed his commitment to uphold the Constitution of India, faithfully discharge his parliamentary duties, and represent the interests of the people of Rajasthan in the Rajya Sabha.

Role of the Rajya Sabha

The Rajya Sabha, also known as the Council of States, serves as the Upper House of the Parliament of India. It plays a crucial role in reviewing legislation, debating national policies, scrutinizing government decisions, and representing the interests of India’s states and union territories.
