New Delhi/Raipur, August 2, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address the nation’s youth today under the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, a nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports through MY Bharat. The campaign aims to unite young people against substance abuse while promoting a healthy, responsible, and drug-free lifestyle in line with the vision of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’.
The programme will be conducted simultaneously across all districts and universities in the country, with an estimated participation of more than one crore youth from around 10,000 locations.
Grand Programme in Chhattisgarh
In Chhattisgarh, the campaign will be organised across every district and university with active participation from students, volunteers, youth clubs, educational institutions, NGOs, and community organisations.
The state-level event will be held at Lok Bhawan, Raipur, where the Governor of Chhattisgarh and the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh will participate. All Cabinet Ministers of the state government are also expected to join the campaign from various locations across Chhattisgarh, interacting with youth and encouraging them to support the mission of building a drug-free society.
Nationwide Youth Movement Against Substance Abuse
The campaign seeks to inspire youth-led action through awareness drives, sports, cultural activities, fitness programmes, community participation, and positive social engagement. Participants from across the country will collectively take the ‘Nasha Mukti Sankalp’ (Drug-Free India Pledge), reaffirming their commitment to stay away from drugs and motivate others to do the same.
The initiative marks the beginning of a 100-week Sunday engagement programme, ensuring sustained youth participation through regular activities including:
- Walkathons
- Sports and fitness events
- Meditation and mindfulness sessions
- Cultural programmes
- Street plays
- Awareness campaigns
- Community outreach activities
Massive Participation Expected
The virtual programme is expected to connect:
- Over 10,000 locations
- More than one crore youth
- MY Bharat volunteers
- MY Bharat-NSS volunteers
- Youth clubs
- School, college and university students
- NGO representatives
- Youth wings of industrial associations
- Members of more than 125 partner organisations
e-Pledge Campaign and Creative Competitions
An e-Pledge Campaign is also underway through the MY Bharat portal, enabling citizens, especially young people, to pledge their commitment towards a drug-free India.
The campaign further includes district-level competitions in categories such as:
- Folk songs
- Mime acts
- Short films and reels
- Painting
- Debates
- Slogan writing
District winners will advance to state-level competitions, providing an opportunity to represent their respective States and Union Territories.
Community Awareness Activities
Alongside competitions, several awareness initiatives will be conducted nationwide, including:
- Nasha Mukti Shapath (Drug-Free Pledge)
- Expert counselling and awareness sessions
- Gram Sabha Sankalp Sabhas
- Sports and fitness programmes
- Signature campaigns
- Social media awareness drives
- Parent sensitisation programmes
- Recognition of institutions and villages promoting a drug-free environment
These activities are designed to strengthen community participation and encourage long-term behavioural change among youth.
National Conclave on August 14
The campaign will conclude with the National Nasha Mukti Youth Conclave, proposed to be held in New Delhi on August 14, 2026, where outstanding performers and contributors from across India will be honoured for their efforts in spreading awareness against substance abuse and promoting the vision of a Drug-Free India.
