Nationwide mega-event to connect young participants across 1,600 locations; focus on youth participation, sports development and nation building
Raipur : On the occasion of National Sports Day, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), will organise the nationwide ‘Khelo India Samvad – Khel Ki Baat PM Ke Saath’ programme on August 27, 2026.
The initiative will bring together young people, athletes, sports personalities and future leaders across the country under the central theme of ‘Youth Participation, Sports Development, and Nation Building’.
PM Modi to connect with 8 lakh young participants
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nationwide programme virtually, connecting with more than 8 lakh young participants and athletes simultaneously.
The programme will be organised across 1,600 locations, with two prominent colleges in every district serving as venues. The initiative aims to increase youth participation in sports and encourage young people to contribute to India’s development journey.
Focus on grassroots sports development
A major component of the programme will be ‘Youth Connect’, through which participants will interact with local sports personalities, Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies and community leaders.
The discussions will highlight India’s progress in developing the sports ecosystem and strengthening grassroots sports infrastructure over the past 12 years.
Youth Dialogue to seek ideas and suggestions
A dedicated 15-minute ‘Youth Dialogue’ will provide young participants an opportunity to share their ideas, aspirations and policy suggestions.
Key areas of discussion will include:
- Expansion of grassroots sports facilities
- Scientific identification and development of sporting talent
- Preparing athletes for the 2036 Olympics
- Strengthening youth leadership
- Developing future-ready skills
- Promoting volunteering opportunities
- Greater participation of youth in building Viksit Bharat
Digital participation through MY Bharat
To encourage direct participation in policymaking, QR codes will be made available at programme venues. Young participants will be able to submit their suggestions through the Idea Box on the MY Bharat portal.
Participants will also have an opportunity to take part in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) Quiz.
National Sports Day backdrop
The programme is being organised in connection with National Sports Day, observed in honour of legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
Through Khelo India Samvad, the government aims to create a nationwide platform where young Indians can discuss sports, leadership, skills and nation building while contributing their ideas to India’s development goals.
With participation from more than 8 lakh youth across 1,600 locations, the August 27 programme is expected to become a major nationwide youth engagement initiative centred on sports and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
