Over 11,000 Sugarcane Farmers in Pandariya Receive 50 Kg Sugar at Subsidised Rate

Farmers of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Cooperative Sugar Mill get 50 kg sugar at ₹30 per kg; road project also approved in Pandariya

Kawardha: Amid rising sugar prices, more than 11,000 shareholder sugarcane farmers associated with the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Cooperative Sugar Mill in the Pandariya Assembly constituency have received sugar at a subsidised rate.

Each eligible farmer was provided 50 kg of sugar at ₹30 per kg. The distribution brought relief to farmers, who welcomed the initiative.

Bhoomi Pujan for Sardar Patel Statue

A bhoomi pujan ceremony was also held at the sugar mill premises for the installation of a grand statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. The statue is expected to be installed at the mill complex soon.

Speaking at the programme, Pandariya MLA Bhavna Bohra said that recovery-related payments for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 periods had been made available to farmers.

She said efforts were being made to provide farmers in Pandariya with a large one-time payment and to develop the cooperative sugar mill into one of the leading sugar factories in the country.

Improved Sugarcane Seeds from Maharashtra

To improve sugarcane productivity and farmers’ income, improved varieties of sugarcane seed have been brought from Maharashtra.

Farmers are being encouraged to adopt these varieties with the aim of increasing both crop yields and income.

Road Project Approved for Farmers

A road construction project has also been approved following a long-standing demand from farmers.

According to MLA Bhavna Bohra, a road of approximately three kilometres has been sanctioned at a cost of several crore rupees.

The proposed road is expected to make it easier for farmers to transport sugarcane from their fields to the cooperative sugar mill by tractor, particularly during the crushing season.

Farmers Seek Increase in Sugarcane Bonus

During the programme, farmers also raised the issue of increasing the bonus amount paid on sugarcane.

Bhavna Bohra assured the farmers that their demand would be placed before the Chief Minister and said efforts would be made to seek an increase in the bonus amount.
