100 meritorious students from government schools selected for specialised coaching in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology
Bilaspur : NTPC Sipat has launched the ‘Sankalp’ Free Coaching Programme to provide quality competitive-examination preparation to talented students from government schools in the surrounding rural areas. The initiative aims to support students of Classes XI and XII preparing for prestigious entrance examinations such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The programme was formally inaugurated on August 26, 2026, in the presence of Sanjay Agrawal, IAS, Collector, Bilaspur, as the Chief Guest and Rajnesh Singh, IPS, SSP and DIG, Bilaspur, as the Guest of Honour. Swapan Kumar Mandal, Business Unit Head (BUH), NTPC Sipat, also graced the inauguration ceremony.
100 Government School Students Selected
Under the Sankalp initiative, 100 meritorious students from government schools have been selected through an entrance examination.
The students have been divided into two batches:
- 50 students from Class XI
- 50 students from Class XII
The selected students belong to:
- Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sipat
- Government High School, Darrabhata
- Government Higher Secondary School, Janji
- Swami Atmanand Government Hindi Medium School, Pandhi
- Swami Atmanand Government Hindi & English Medium School, Sipat
The coaching programme will be conducted four days a week, with three hours of classes each day.
Students will receive specialised coaching in:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Biology
The structured programme is designed to help students strengthen their academic foundations and prepare systematically for competitive examinations.
Collector Sanjay Agrawal Appreciates NTPC’s Initiative
Chief Guest Shri Sanjay Agrawal, IAS, Collector, Bilaspur, appreciated NTPC Sipat for launching the Sankalp programme and described it as an important initiative for both education and community development.
Recalling his own educational journey and the challenges he faced, the Collector encouraged the students to remain consistent, disciplined and committed to their goals.
He urged the students to make the best possible use of the opportunity provided to them and develop the confidence and determination required to contribute meaningfully to the country’s development in the future.
He also emphasised that talented students should receive opportunities to progress even when they face limitations in resources. According to him, initiatives such as Sankalp can play an important role in bridging this gap.
SSP & DIG Rajnesh Singh Calls Sankalp a Commendable Initiative
Guest of Honour Shri Rajnesh Singh, IPS, SSP and DIG, Bilaspur, also praised the initiative and termed it a commendable social-development effort.
He highlighted the importance of providing students with access to preparation for competitive examinations free of cost and close to their homes.
He encouraged the selected students to utilise the facility sincerely and work hard to make their parents, society and the nation proud.
Referring to the spirit of ‘Jyoti Kiran’ associated with the NTPC song, he urged students not only to achieve personal success but also to become a source of inspiration and guidance for others in society.
NTPC Sipat Reaffirms Commitment to Education and CSR
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Swapan Kumar Mandal, BUH, NTPC Sipat, said that Sankalp represents an important step towards improving educational opportunities for students in the region.
He expressed gratitude to the Collector, Bilaspur, and the SSP & DIG, Bilaspur, for their guidance and valuable suggestions in developing the initiative.
Shri Mandal said that NTPC’s role extends beyond power generation and that the organisation continues to undertake various initiatives under its corporate social responsibility and community-development efforts.
Through Sankalp, students from villages and surrounding areas will get an opportunity to pursue their aspirations of becoming engineers and doctors.
Entrance Examination Used for Selection
Providing details about the programme, Shri B.B. Patra, Head (Human Resources), NTPC Sipat, said that the initiative was developed following a suggestion from the Collector, Bilaspur.
As part of the selection process, an entrance examination was conducted for students who had completed Classes X and XI from nearby government schools.
Based on their performance in the examination, 50 students each from Classes XI and XII were selected for the coaching programme.
This brought the total number of students admitted to Sankalp to 100.
Faculty Briefs Students on Coaching Plan
The faculty appointed for the programme also attended the inauguration ceremony.

- Subject-wise preparation
- Academic requirements
- Examination-oriented preparation
- General guidelines for students
