New Delhi — National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), one of India’s leading public sector fertilizer manufacturers, has announced the recruitment process for the prestigious post of Director (Technical) through the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). The vacancy is scheduled to arise on June 1, 2027, and the selected candidate will serve a tenure of five years or until reaching the age of superannuation, whichever comes earlier. The role offers a compensation package under the Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) pay scale ranging from ₹1,80,000 to ₹3,40,000 per month.

Established in 1974, National Fertilizers Limited is a Schedule ‘A’ Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) operating under the Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The Government of India holds a 74.71 percent stake in the company, with the remaining shares owned by financial institutions and public investors.
NFL operates five gas-based ammonia-urea plants located in Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, with a combined annual production capacity of approximately 3.57 million metric tons. During the 2024-25 financial year, the company emerged as India’s second-largest producer of urea, accounting for nearly 12 percent of the country’s total output.
As of March 31, 2026, NFL employed 2,612 regular personnel, including 1,253 executives and 1,359 non-executive employees.
Key Responsibilities
The Director (Technical) will serve as a member of the company’s Board of Directors and report directly to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). The executive will oversee the organization’s technical, operational, maintenance, and project management functions, ensuring efficient plant performance and optimal utilization of resources.
The role also includes responsibility for guiding the company’s modernization initiatives, production strategies, project execution, operational excellence, and technological advancements. The selected candidate will act as the principal advisor on all major technical and operational matters.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must possess a degree in Engineering from a recognized university or institution with an excellent academic record. Additional qualifications such as an MBA or Postgraduate Diploma in Management will be considered advantageous during the selection process.
Candidates are expected to have substantial experience in senior-level technical or operational leadership positions within large organizations. A minimum of five years of experience within the last ten years in a major production or manufacturing environment is mandatory.
Experience in fertilizer manufacturing, plant operations, maintenance management, project implementation, and technical services will be considered highly desirable.
The minimum age requirement is 45 years, with residual service conditions applicable for both internal and external applicants.
