Task force headed by Nandan Nilekani aims to make public examinations safer, transparent, fair and future-ready
New Delhi: The Central Government has taken a major step towards comprehensive reforms in the country’s public examination system. A High-Level Task Force (HPTF) headed by Nandan Nilekani has invited suggestions from students, parents, teachers, examination bodies, technology professionals and other stakeholders to review the conduct, security and administrative arrangements of public examinations, including examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The task force is examining ways to strengthen institutional systems and procedures, improve examination integrity and security through appropriate technology, upgrade examination infrastructure, promote accessibility and inclusivity, and safeguard the interests of students.
The broader objective is to develop a robust, secure, transparent, fair and future-ready public examination system.
Suggestions Invited on Key Areas
The High-Level Task Force has invited suggestions on a wide range of issues related to public examinations, including:
- Secure conduct of public examinations.
- Examination design and assessment methods.
- Governance, accountability and institutional arrangements.
- Prevention, detection and redressal of malpractice.
- Use of technology, including secure computer-based examinations.
- Development and upgradation of examination infrastructure.
- Inclusive examination frameworks for better access across social, economic, regional and linguistic groups.
- Transparency, grievance redressal and communication with stakeholders.
- Measures to protect and promote the interests of students throughout the examination process.
- Any other measures that can help improve the examination system.
Who Can Submit Suggestions?
The task force has invited inputs from all stakeholders connected with the examination ecosystem. These include students and candidates, parents, teachers and educational institutions, examination-conducting and examination-material agencies, subject experts, technology professionals, industry organisations, civil society organisations and other concerned stakeholders.
Suggestions Can Be Submitted Till September 13
Stakeholders can submit their suggestions by September 13, 2026. Inputs can be submitted in English, Hindi and regional languages.

Public Consultation to Help Frame Recommendations
The suggestions received through the public consultation will assist the High-Level Task Force in preparing its recommendations for the government.
