New Delhi / Dadri | Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) has taken a significant step toward promoting sustainable transportation and environment-friendly logistics by inaugurating an in-house Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Fuel Station at its Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), Dadri. The initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting clean energy solutions in India’s logistics sector.
The LNG Fuel Station was formally inaugurated by Shri Sanjay Swarup, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), CONCOR, in the presence of senior officials from CONCOR and Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the project’s strategic partner.
The newly commissioned facility has been established in collaboration with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and is designed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of LNG fuel for CONCOR’s dedicated fleet of LNG-powered trailers operating from the MMLP Dadri terminal. The move is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency and sustainability of cargo transportation while reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuels.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shri Kumar Shanker, Managing Director, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), along with Directors, senior executives, and officials from both CONCOR and IGL, highlighting the strong partnership between the two organizations in advancing India’s clean mobility goals.
The establishment of the in-house LNG fueling infrastructure is a major milestone in CONCOR’s ongoing efforts to develop eco-friendly logistics solutions. By ensuring the availability of clean-burning LNG fuel within its logistics park, the company aims to improve the operational efficiency of its LNG trailer fleet while minimizing fuel supply disruptions.
The facility will play a crucial role in supporting first-mile and last-mile logistics operations, enabling cleaner transportation of cargo to and from one of CONCOR’s most strategically important logistics hubs in the National Capital Region (NCR). The initiative is expected to contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions, improved fuel efficiency, and reduced environmental impact across freight transportation operations.
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is widely recognized as a cleaner alternative fuel, producing significantly lower emissions of carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx), and particulate matter compared to conventional diesel-powered vehicles. The adoption of LNG-powered transport aligns with the Government of India’s broader objectives of promoting clean energy, green mobility, and achieving long-term carbon reduction targets.
With the commissioning of the LNG Fuel Station at MMLP Dadri, CONCOR continues to strengthen its position as a leader in sustainable multimodal logistics by integrating environmentally responsible technologies into its operations. The initiative supports the company’s vision of creating a greener, more efficient, and future-ready logistics network, while contributing to India’s transition toward low-carbon freight transportation and sustainable infrastructure development.
