Hyderabad, July 15: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) represented Coal India Limited (CIL) at the prestigious BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit 2026, held in Hyderabad from July 14 to July 16 under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026. The summit brought together more than 50 international delegates, Indian trade union leaders, labor experts, policymakers, and academicians to discuss the future of work, employee welfare, and sustainable economic development among BRICS+ nations.
Representing Coal India, Shri Biranchi Das, Director (Human Resources), SECL, participated in a high-level panel discussion titled “Best Practices in BRICS+ Countries.” During the session, he highlighted Coal India’s people-centric human resource policies, sharing the organization’s successful initiatives in employee welfare, women empowerment, skill development, industrial relations, and organizational excellence.
Speaking before the international audience, Shri Das emphasized that Coal India, with a workforce of more than 220,000 employees, is one of the largest public sector employers in India. He explained how the company’s participative work culture, employee-focused policies, and inclusive HR practices have strengthened productivity, workplace harmony, and long-term organizational growth.
He also showcased SECL’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including “SECL Ke Sushrut” and “SECL Ki Dhadkan.” These programs have made a significant impact in improving education and healthcare services across the coal-bearing regions, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable community development and social responsibility.
The BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit 2026 is being organized under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The three-day event serves as a global platform for member nations to exchange ideas and promote collaboration on labor and employment-related issues.
Key discussions at the summit include universal social security, future-ready skill development, human-centric technology, responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI), and women’s participation in the evolving world of work. The forum aims to strengthen cooperation among BRICS+ countries by encouraging the exchange of best practices, innovative policies, and sustainable workforce development strategies.
By representing Coal India on this international platform, SECL reinforced the organization’s reputation as a leader in human resource management, employee welfare, inclusive workplace practices, and community development, while highlighting India’s commitment to building a resilient and sustainable future for the global workforce.
