NEET Re-Examination Conducted at Four Centers in Korba Under Tight Security Measures

Korba, Chhattisgarh: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Re-Examination was successfully conducted on Saturday at four examination centers across Korba district, with authorities implementing strict security protocols and enhanced monitoring to ensure a fair and transparent examination process.

More than 1,700 candidates appeared for the highly anticipated re-examination, which was held following the cancellation of the earlier NEET examination due to allegations of a question paper leak.

Four Examination Centers Established

The district administration designated four institutions as official examination centers:

  • Government Post Graduate (PG) College, Korba
  • Eklavya Model Residential School, Chhurikala
  • A School in Jamnipali
  • A School in BALCO Township

Candidates were required to report to their respective centers by 11:00 a.m., and the examination was conducted in accordance with the schedule prescribed by the examination authorities. The day’s examination process continued until 5:00 p.m.

Background: Why the Re-Examination Was Held

The original NEET examination was conducted nationwide last month for millions of students seeking admission to undergraduate medical and dental programs across India.

However, allegations of a question paper leak triggered a nationwide controversy. Investigations reportedly uncovered the involvement of an organized network linked to Pune, Maharashtra, leading authorities to cancel the affected examination and order a re-examination.

The decision forced thousands of students to resume preparation, requiring additional time, effort, and financial resources.

District Administration Strengthens Security

Considering the importance of the examination and the controversy surrounding the previous test, the Korba District Administration implemented extensive security arrangements.

Both the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police (SP) conducted multiple inspections of all examination centers before the examination to review preparedness and ensure compliance with official guidelines.

The administration assigned responsibility for conducting the examination to the heads of the respective educational institutions.

Strict Entry and Security Protocols

Authorities ensured that every registered candidate reached the examination center on time while following all instructions issued under the official NEET examination guidelines.

Several security measures were enforced, including:

  • Thorough identity verification of candidates.
  • Strict screening procedures at entry points.
  • Complete prohibition of unauthorized items and electronic devices inside examination halls.
  • Allowing only approved writing materials as per examination regulations.
  • Continuous monitoring throughout the examination process.

Officials emphasized that every guideline issued by the examination authorities was implemented without exception.

Police Deployment Around Examination Centers

To facilitate smooth movement of candidates and maintain law and order, police personnel were deployed around all examination venues and along major approach roads.

The additional security presence helped regulate traffic, prevent unauthorized access, and ensure that candidates reached their centers without inconvenience.

Focus on Transparency and Fairness

Following the nationwide controversy surrounding the earlier examination, authorities placed special emphasis on maintaining transparency, fairness, and integrity throughout the re-examination process.

District officials stated that enhanced surveillance and coordinated administrative efforts were intended to restore public confidence in one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations.

Critical Examination for Medical Aspirants

The NEET examination serves as India’s primary entrance test for admission to undergraduate medical and dental programs, making it one of the country’s most important competitive examinations.

The successful conduct of the re-examination under heightened security reflects the administration’s commitment to providing candidates with a fair, secure, and credible testing environment after the disruption caused by the earlier paper leak controversy.
