36 teams from leading institutions across four states compete in NTPC’s Mumbai regional round
Mumbai : The Mumbai Regional Round of the NTPC Electron Quiz 2026–27 was held on September 17 at Bharat Ratnam – Mega CFC, Andheri East, under the aegis of NTPC Western Region-I Headquarters.
The competition saw participation from 36 teams representing leading engineering and management institutions across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa.
Organised around the theme “Anything and Everything from the World of Business and Management,” the quiz exposed participants to contemporary developments and concepts spanning leadership, markets, corporate strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability.
The competition began with an on-the-spot written round featuring a theme-based questionnaire. The six highest-scoring teams advanced to the multimedia final, which featured audio-visual questions, rapid-fire rounds and buzzer-based challenges.
Senior NTPC Officials Address Participants
Several senior officials attended the event, including Shri Nirbhay Gupta, Executive Director (Nuclear). Addressing participants, he highlighted the enthusiasm of young students and said NTPC remains committed to creating platforms that encourage knowledge, leadership and healthy competition.
Shri Anil Kumar Chawla, Regional Head of HR (West-I) & GM (HR), Nuclear, said the Electron Quiz reflects NTPC’s belief that empowering young people is closely linked with nation-building. He described the event as a platform for learning, collaboration and showcasing the potential of students.
The regional round was conducted by noted quizmaster Shri Gautam Bose, founder of Greycells and an internationally recognised knowledge professional. Bose has conducted quizzes across more than 100 destinations worldwide and has hosted programmes for audiences in regions including the Middle East, SAARC countries, East Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa and the United States.
SPJIMR Team Takes First Place
Following an intensive on-stage final, Sanidhy Singh Raghuwanshi and Dev Khemani of SPJIMR, Mumbai, emerged as the regional winners and secured the first prize of ₹60,000 per team.
Ishaan Jayant Yewale and Rushab Gokul Jain Khivasara of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies finished second and received ₹40,000 per team.
The third position went to Shagun Srivastava and Johan Sam Biju of IIT Bombay, who received ₹20,000 per team.
Three consolation prizes of ₹8,000 per team were awarded to:
- Kartik Pankaj Pathak and Prayag Mohanty – IIT Bombay
- Angaraaj Das and Satyam Sharad – Indian Institute of Management Mumbai
- Aneesh G P Pai and Slok Jayendra Patel – K J Somaiya School of Engineering
The first- and second-place teams will represent NTPC Western Region-I at the national-level round, where they will compete against qualifying teams from other regional rounds.
Participating teams in the regional round were also provided travel reimbursement in accordance with applicable NTPC guidelines.
Electron Quiz: A Long-Running NTPC Initiative
The NTPC Electron Quiz, organised since 2004, is one of the company’s flagship initiatives for engaging with the student community. The programme provides young participants with a platform to expand their knowledge, develop analytical abilities and experience competitive quizzing.
NTPC has been contributing to India’s power sector for more than five decades through power generation, technological initiatives and sustainability-focused programmes. The Electron Quiz is part of the company’s efforts to engage with students and encourage knowledge-driven learning and leadership.
