1600000 in Cash Recovered from Suspicious Parcel in Raipur; Investigation Underway


Raipur, India — : Police in Raipur have recovered approximately ₹1.6 million (around $160,000 USD) in cash from a suspicious parcel at a private transport office, officials said on Tuesday.

According to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone), Sandeep Patel, authorities received a tip-off regarding a parcel being shipped from Kolkata to Delhi that allegedly contained suspicious material. Acting swiftly on the information, Patel directed local officers and the station house officer of New Rajendra Nagar police station to verify the input and take appropriate action.

A police team conducted a raid at a transport company office located in Ashoka Millennium Plaza under the New Rajendra Nagar jurisdiction. During the search operation, officers discovered three white sacks containing large quantities of currency notes.

Officials reported that the seized cash included:

  • 400 bundles of ₹20 notes
  • 800 bundles of ₹10 notes

The total amount recovered was ₹1,600,000.

Police have initiated legal proceedings under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Authorities have also informed the Income Tax Department, which will further examine the financial trail and possible tax violations.

Investigators are currently working to identify the rightful owner of the cash and determine whether the funds are linked to any illegal activities. Further details are expected as the probe progresses.
