New Delhi : Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced the redesignation of Manish Raj Gupta as Director (Mining), effective February 18, 2026, following approval from the Government of India.

According to a regulatory filing, Gupta has been redesignated from his earlier role as Director (Technical, Projects and Raw Materials). The change has been approved by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, through a letter dated February 16, 2026.

Manish Raj Gupta brings over 30 years of experience in the steel sector. He holds a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MANIT Bhopal and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management. He began his career at SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee (Technical) at Durgapur Steel Plant.

Over the years, he has held several key leadership positions, including:

  • Executive Director In-Charge (Operations), SAIL Corporate Office
  • Executive Director (Works), IISCO Steel Plant
  • Chief General Manager, Bokaro Steel Plant (Steel Melting Shops)
  • Multiple operational and managerial roles at Durgapur Steel Plant
