Durg, Chhattisgarh |Durg Police have arrested another accused in connection with the murder of a young man following a dispute over old financial dues. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of City Kotwali Police Station, Durg.
According to police, the case originated from a Marg diary (No. 0/2026) received from Supela Police Station on January 25, 2026, under Section 194 of the BNSS. The deceased was identified as Rishi Nirmalkar, whose post-mortem examination and preliminary investigation revealed that he sustained fatal injuries during a physical altercation.
Investigations found that Rishi Nirmalkar was assaulted at Hotel 36 Inn, Indira Market, Durg, following an argument related to the recovery of old money. The accused allegedly engaged in fistfighting with the victim, causing serious injuries. Rishi later succumbed to these injuries during treatment.
Based on the findings, Crime No. 48/2026 was registered at Durg Police Station under Sections 103 and 3(5) of the BNS, and a formal investigation was initiated.
Acting swiftly, police detained one of the accused, Prashant Rao (26), a resident of Om Nagar, Urla, under Mohan Nagar Police Station limits. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the crime and was subsequently arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Further investigation based on Prashant Rao’s memorandum led police to search for another accused. Acting on a tip-off from an informant, police arrested Lucky alias Kishan Kumar Dhruve (18 years and 4 months), a resident of Jayanti Nagar, Durg. He also confessed to his role in the incident and has been sent to judicial remand.
Police officials stated that efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend other suspects involved in the case. Further investigation is underway.
