Korba : Coal India Limited Chairman B. Sairam conducted an extensive inspection of South Eastern Coalfields Limited’s (SECL) Kusmunda Mega Project on Sunday, reviewing coal production, overburden removal and ongoing mining operations. He also assessed operational challenges and discussed measures to achieve the project’s revised production target.
During the visit, Sairam inspected several mining areas to assess ground-level operations and review the progress of mining activities.
Inspects Departmental and Contractual Mining Patches
The inspection began with a review of mining activities from the Kusmunda Mine viewpoint. The Chairman subsequently visited the departmental mining patch to take stock of ongoing operations and production performance.
He also inspected the new contractual mining patch operated by KNR and reviewed the work being carried out by the agency. At the Neelkanth coal face, he assessed the prevailing mining conditions, coal face exposure and operational progress.
Focus on Production Targets and Operational Challenges
During the field inspection, Sairam emphasised the need to achieve the production target set for the Kusmunda Project. He reviewed existing constraints and operational challenges and discussed measures to improve coal production.
Following the inspection, the Chairman held a meeting with Kusmunda Area officials, representatives of contractual agencies and other stakeholders. The discussions focused on production targets, coordination among the teams involved in mining operations and ways to address operational issues affecting performance.
Senior SECL Officials Participate in Review Meeting
SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan joined the meeting through video conferencing.
Director (Technical–Operations) Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, Director (Technical–Planning & Projects) Nripendra Nath and other senior Kusmunda Area officials also attended the meeting.
The visit formed part of the review of mining operations and production performance at the Kusmunda Mega Project, with emphasis on addressing operational bottlenecks and strengthening coordination to meet production commitments.
