36 Constable Vacancies Approved for Former Agniveers
The Cabinet approved recruitment of former Agniveers against 36 available vacancies in the Home Department, with the aim of utilising the skills, discipline and experience they gained during their service in the armed forces.
The state government had already introduced a provision for 10% category-wise reservation for former Agniveers in the relevant constable recruitment. The latest decision authorises recruitment against the 36 vacant posts; candidates will need to meet the applicable eligibility and recruitment requirements. <Cite refs={[“turn336045search3″,”turn336045search5”]}/>
The decision creates an additional employment opportunity for eligible former Agniveers seeking to continue their careers in public service after completing their military engagement.
Adivasi Vikas Department to Be Renamed Tribal Affairs Department
In another decision, the Cabinet approved a proposal to amend the Chhattisgarh Government Business (Allocation) Rules to change the name of the Adivasi Vikas Department to the Tribal Affairs Department.
The proposed change will be implemented through the prescribed amendment to the state government’s rules. The decision concerns the department’s official name; further implementation details will depend on the formal government process. <Cite refs={[“turn336045search0″,”turn336045search3”]}/>
CM Sai Highlights Central Government Schemes and Development
Following the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also spoke about development initiatives and welfare programmes under the Narendra Modi-led Central Government.
Sai referred to the sharing of central tax revenue with states, stating that the states’ share had increased from 32% to 42% after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. He also recalled the Centre’s stated focus on welfare measures for economically weaker sections.
The Chief Minister highlighted initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, saying these programmes were intended to improve access to housing, sanitation and banking services.
Referring to Jan Dhan accounts, Sai said direct transfers of government benefits had demonstrated the importance of expanding access to formal banking. His remarks formed part of a broader discussion on welfare delivery and development priorities. <Cite refs={[“turn336045search2″,”turn336045search5”]}/>
Focus on Employment and Administrative Changes
The two Cabinet decisions cover separate areas of state administration: recruitment opportunities for former military personnel and a change in the official name of the department dealing with tribal affairs.
The recruitment approval will allow the relevant authorities to proceed with filling the specified vacancies in accordance with applicable rules. The department’s renaming will require the corresponding formal amendment to the Government Business (Allocation) Rules.
Both decisions were announced following the Cabinet meeting on October 11, 2026.
