Budget Day Shock: Oil Companies Raise Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Across India

Hyderabad। Just hours before the Union Budget 2026 is set to be presented, India’s oil marketing companies have delivered an inflationary shock by increasing the prices of LPG cylinders. As is customary on the first day of every month, LPG prices were revised on Sunday, February 1, with a hike announced for commercial gas cylinders.

According to official information, oil companies have raised the prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by nearly ₹50, effective immediately. The revised rates have come into force across major metropolitan cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. However, there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders (14 kg), providing some relief to household consumers.

Revised Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices

City January 2026 Price February 1, 2026 Price Increase Delhi ₹1,691.50 ₹1,740.50 ₹49 Mumbai ₹1,642.50 ₹1,692.00 ₹49.50 Kolkata ₹1,795.00 ₹1,844.50 ₹49.50 Chennai ₹1,849.50 ₹1,899.50 ₹50

The increase is expected to impact restaurants, hotels, catering services, and small businesses, which primarily rely on commercial LPG cylinders for daily operations.

Second Hike in 2026

This marks the second price hike for commercial LPG cylinders in 2026. In January, oil companies had raised prices by ₹111 per cylinder. Following that increase, prices in Delhi rose from ₹1,580 to ₹1,691.50, while similar hikes were recorded in other metros.

Domestic LPG Prices Remain Unchanged

In contrast, the prices of 14-kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged. These rates have been stable since April 8, 2025. Currently, domestic LPG prices stand at ₹853 in Delhi, ₹852 in Mumbai, ₹879 in Kolkata, and ₹868 in Chennai.

With inflation already a key concern for consumers and businesses alike, the latest price hike on Budget Day has added to public anxiety, as expectations remain high for relief measures in the Union Budget 2026.
