Hyderabad/Guwahati, July 26, 2026: The devastating floods in Assam continue to wreak havoc across the northeastern state, leaving hundreds of villages submerged, displacing hundreds of thousands of residents, and creating an urgent humanitarian crisis. As relief efforts continue, Bollywood actress Adah Sharma has appealed to people across the country to come forward and support flood-affected families through trusted relief organizations.
Sharing heartbreaking images from the flood-hit regions on her social media, Adah Sharma expressed deep concern over the suffering of families who have lost their homes, livelihoods, schools, and farms. She urged citizens to donate whatever they can, emphasizing that even a small contribution can help provide food, clean drinking water, medicines, and temporary shelter to those in need.
According to the actress, nearly 900 villages have been inundated, with around 700,000 people affected and approximately 300,000 residents taking refuge in relief camps. She described the emotional trauma experienced by families forced to leave everything behind, saying it is unimaginable to watch one’s memories, belongings, crops, and livelihood disappear under floodwaters.
American Volunteers Join Relief Awareness
Among those expressing concern were American disaster relief volunteer Michael Carter from Texas and public health volunteer Emily Johnson from California, who have been working with international humanitarian networks supporting emergency response initiatives.
Michael Carter said:
“Natural disasters know no borders. Communities around the world can make a difference by supporting reliable relief organizations that are providing emergency assistance to flood victims.”
Emily Johnson added:
“Children, elderly people, and families displaced by floods urgently need safe shelter, clean water, and medical care. Global awareness and community support are essential during crises like this.”

Rising Death Toll
The flood situation in Assam remains critical. According to the latest Disaster Reporting and Information Management System (DRIMS) update, 14 additional flood-related deaths have been reported, taking the overall death toll to 62.
The latest fatalities include:
- Seven deaths in Charaideo
- Six deaths in Sivasagar
- One death in Jorhat
Authorities continue rescue, evacuation, and relief operations while monitoring river levels and weather conditions across the affected districts.

State agencies, disaster response teams, and volunteer organizations are working around the clock to provide emergency shelter, food supplies, healthcare services, and rescue assistance to affected communities. Officials have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and follow evacuation advisories.
